Suffolk Forgotten in Government Hand-out
Suffolk is one of only two counties overlooked in a £5m seaside towns hand-out.
The Government has announced support for 31 coastal towns - in 15 counties - to help create jobs and improve low quality housing and infrastructure. Only Suffolk and Dorset are left out.
Reacting, Daisy Cooper - Liberal Democrat PPC for Suffolk Coastal - said:
"Yet again the Government has overlooked Suffolk. The challenges we face are every bit as big as some of the areas targeted in this hand-out.
”Unemployment and the need for seaside investment and regeneration are as pressing in Felixstowe and Lowestoft as in any of the places chosen by the Government for special funds.
“We need local MPs who will pack a bit more Suffolk punch - Suffolk has been sold short far too often. Liberal Democrats will ensure government funding of local authorities is a level playing field and that Suffolk receives its fair share of central government support."
